The Kriega OS-BASE harness is a rackless mounting system designed specifically for the Ducati Desert-X. It accommodates the OS-6, OS-12, and OS-18 Adventure Pack soft panniers without requiring a side metal frame.
Its Desert-X specific shape and dedicated fasteners ensure precise mounting while maintaining sufficient clearance around the exhaust. The system can be installed without drilling or permanent bodywork modifications and can accommodate one, two, or three panniers depending on the desired capacity.

A rackless attachment adapted to the Desert-X
The Kriega OS-BASE mounting system is based on a simple principle: the panniers are carried by a harness installed on the seat, without a heavy metal frame. This architecture preserves the off-road vocation of the Desert-X while offering a loading solution suitable for travel.
The various attachment points have been developed for this motorcycle. The harness hugs its rear section and ensures stable support for the panniers.
Enhanced stability with X-STRAPS
The version designed for the Ducati Desert-X benefits from X-STRAPS, designed to enhance the stability of the luggage, especially when loads are heavy or during demanding off-road use.
The attachment also maintains sufficient clearance around the exhaust, an essential point when the motorcycle is riding on rough tracks.
Capacity from 12 to 54 liters
The choice of OS-6, OS-12, and OS-18 panniers varies the capacity depending on the type of outing. A light configuration is suitable for day trips, while three OS-18s bring the total volume to 54 liters.
A central compartment can also complement the side panniers. This modularity makes the luggage adaptable to both a short road trip and a multi-day adventure motorcycle trip.
Quick installation without motorcycle modification
The harness installation takes less than a minute, while its removal takes a few seconds. The pre-defined length straps facilitate positioning and limit the necessary adjustments.
The system requires no drilling or permanent bodywork modification.
Robust design
The OS-BASE uses high-strength Hypalon, with reinforced stitching in areas subject to stress. Aircraft-grade alloy hooks and non-slip cam buckles complete this construction designed for demanding uses.
FOR EXTREME OFF-ROAD USE
When the bag is heavily loaded and used in particularly demanding off-road conditions, attach the upper inner straps to the X-straps. This additional fastening limits bag movement and improves stability during riding.
WARNING – RISK OF BODYWORK ABRASION
Even if most OS-BASE systems rest on the seat, their side parts may come into contact with the motorcycle's plastic panels and cause slight abrasion. The presence of mud, dust, or particles between the system and the plastics can accentuate this phenomenon.
It is advisable to apply a transparent adhesive protective film to the areas of the bodywork likely to come into contact with the OS-BASE. This precaution reduces the risk of marks and abrasion traces on the motorcycle's plastics.
Beware of carrying a passenger
Kriega advises against using the rackless OS-BASE when the Ducati Desert-X is carrying a passenger. For a luggage configuration compatible with this use, it is advisable to turn to the range of OS soft panniers designed for configurations with a passenger.
